At Lift Greenwood our Personal Development programme is an entitlement for all students.
The extensive programme underpins our desire to nurture happy, healthy young people who develop the knowledge, academic achievement and strength of character needed to lead safe, successful lives in modern Britain. We want every pupil to leave us fully prepared for their next steps in education or employment, and equipped with genuine high aspirations and the motivation to achieve remarkable things.
We are committed to ensuring every member of our school community feels a sense of belonging to Greenwood and through robust house and pastoral systems, pupils are supported in their physical health, safety, and emotional wellbeing from the moment they join us. Personal development sits at the heart of this commitment. Through our comprehensive Character curriculum, pupils gain the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills needed to live safe, healthy, productive lives and reach their full potential.
Our curriculum is designed to meet all statutory requirements while also reflecting the unique character and needs of our community. SMSC and British Values, RSHE, Emotional Health and Wellbeing, and Careers are all delivered through our tutor programme and throughout curriculum areas, ensuring consistency and high-quality learning experiences across the school.
Personal development is central to our ethos as a school and we deliver a bold and ambitious programme in response to the disadvantage and educational debt that large numbers of pupils face.
Beyond the classroom, we believe that wider experiences are just as important as academic study. Our ‘Uniquely Greenwood’ programme gives pupils access to unforgettable opportunities—from our immersive Scare Maze and magical Santa on the Vale experience, to our hugely popular annual productions such as Matilda and Camp Rock. Alongside this the Greenwood Plus programme of trips, visits and a diverse enrichment offer, broaden horizons, build character, and help pupils discover their passions.
Overall, our personal development programme aims to cultivate well-rounded, confident young people who not only excel academically but also contribute positively to our school and their wider community.
